Karen's Story
THANK YOU SO MUCH for everything you did and giving me such priceless treasures. You said to me one time that you would feel good in just knowing that me looking at the painting and smiling was your goal. Well that's one I can guarantee! I know several times we wondered if we'd ever reach this place - but we have and they're perfect! They don't just look like a painting, they look like they've been brought alive - so animated with such detail. I can never thank you enough!
Bear
I rescued him from a puppy mill where he had been severely
neglected and abused. I was told he had a very slim chance
of living, and if by some miracle he did, he would not
have a meaningful life. I gave him a chance, and he survived.
He has had a long struggle with medical issues and overcoming
the abuse, but despite it all, he is the happiest, most
loving dog anyone could ever ask for. He's taught me more
about how to live than any person ever could. I always
tell him when I grow up I want to be just like him. He
came to me so sick and abused that the vet told me to
put him to sleep - he wouldn't live to 4 months. He does
have lifelong medical issues, but despite his severe abuse,
he is the most affectionate, loving and happy dog I've
ever seen. They said he wouldn't make 4 months - next
week we'll celebrate his 10th birthday! |

Molly
She was a real character. I have never seen a dog wag
their tail as much as Molly. I always told her I decided
she just had so much love inside if she didn't wag her
tail, she'd explode! She'd lay on the bed supposedly asleep,
but I'd softly say "Bear" and the whole bed
would shake. They were VERY close. We were out for a walk
one day and out of the blue this big husky attacked Molly
(didn't know why). It had Molly's neck in his mouth biting.
Bear pulled loose from his leash and attacked the husky.
the owner finally pulled it off and Bear stopped fighting
immediately and just started licking Molly. She was scared,
but okay. That's the only time Bear ever bit another dog
or a human.

Maia
I got her from the shelter when she was 9 months old.
She was beautiful, sweet and love from head to tail. She
loved everything and everyone and touched everyone she
met. Unfortunately when she was 2 1/2 she developed a
brain tumor that couldn't be cured so we had to say goodbye
MUCH too early. As the song says "I could have missed
the pain but I would have had to miss the dance."
I still feel incredibly lucky to have shared her life,
and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Macey
I got her from the shelter when she was 8 weeks. She was
so sick she spent the first weekend in the ICU of the
hospital. She too was abused and she still struggles with
being fearful. But she is a bundle of energy and love
all rolled together. She loves nothing more than playing
ball. She has a goofy side that keeps me laughing. She
is loyal and protective, but most of all she is just plain
love and affection. She is so pretty and I couldn't love
her more.

Zander
Zander spent the first 8 weeks of his life with a chained
mother out in snow and cold with no shelter. Fortunately
he was rescued and I got him a month later. He is the
most mischievious dog I have ever had and he finds his
way into trouble very easily. But he's so cute and sweet
he doesn't stay there long. Aside from being afraid of
storms and very cold temperatures, he is a perfectly healthy,

puppy that worked his way into my heart
in an instant. He loves attention and affection and gives
it back tenfold. I hit the jackpot when I got him, and
his sweet, loving nature makes me realize that more every
day.
The most important thing I would want anyone to know about
my dogs is that they all came from abuse and neglect,
but I watch them overcome their past and blossom into
happy dogs. I feel so incredibly lucky to be the one who
gets to share their life!
