| Painting Story: "God
Bless our Brave Firefighters!"
This is a picture of the Engine 86 crew from Contra Costa
County, CA. We had spent the whole morning training and were
exhausted. Just after we finished our drills we were dispatched
to a two alarm fire in an apartment complex. It was very hot
that day and we were assigned interior fire attack. After
two hours of fighting fire and overhauling the burned units
we went back to the engine completely spent. That is were
the picture as taken. Just after the picture was taken we
stepped out from behind the engine and looked up the hill.
To our amazement we saw a large column of smoke about three
miles away. We dragged our wet exhausted bodies into the engine
and took off to a second three alarm fire involving a barn
and many acres of grass and brush. It was a long shift.
